SCORPIO, Moon of depth and resourcefulness
Emotionally supportive and resilient

From October 30, 12 pm, to November 2, 1.43 am

Suitable energy for cleansing, getting rid of the old, spring cleaning, rubbish removal, recycling, nursing, practical and emotional support, midwifery, intimacy, partnership in business, profound talks, sharing secrets, healing old wounds, cultivating psychic powers, studying occult subjects. Purchase of insurance policies, underwear, hygiene articles, medicines, medical equipment, payment of bills, fees and taxes, collecting debts. Helping the dying, honoring the dead. Action motivated by the desire to experience, to know or to control. Reserved and deep feelings, strong attachments, intense likes and dislikes. Beware of wilfulness, emotional control, resentments, obsessive thoughts, unyielding attitudes.

♣ ♣ ♣ In the garden Scorpio is a very fertile Sign. It is also suitable for propagating cuttings, grafting and irrigation. It promotes sturdy roots. Corn, squashes and tomatoes seem to like particularly to be transplanted when the Moon is in Scorpio.

♥ ♥ ♥ Healing Herbs: Aloe, Don Quai, Ginseng.

A note: the garden activities associated with the Moon Sign depend also on the cycle the Moon is in. The Moon transiting through a fertile or productive Sign will no be so favorable if the Phase is not a productive one, and vice-versa. For best results the Sign and Phase of the Moon have to be considered together.

The New Moon is the beginning of the Waxing cycle, the sacred marriage of Moon and Sun, Yin and Yang, Night and Day. For three days the Moon becomes invisible. Astrologically we say that the Moon is now conjunct the Sun (on the same degree of Longitude along the Ecliptic). Every month the New Moon occurs in a different Sign. So the Aries New Moon in March/April is always followed by the Taurus New Moon in April/May and so on. New Moons are symbols of new beginning and represent a great time to start something or make important changes in our lives. The energy is right for everything new you would like to try.

♣ ♣ ♣ In the garden this is traditionally a time to begin sowing and planting because the increasing Moon light will help plants to emerge and flourish. Moisture becomes more and more available as the light of the Moon intensifies, up to the Full Moon. Traditionally however no sowing or planting are recommended within twelve hours of the phase itself.

Scorpio New Moon 2015

The Waking Moon - Arthur John BlackThe Scorpio New Moon, happening every year in October or November, always represents the beginning of a new yearly cycle for all Scorpio individuals. The transits active at the time of the New Moon set the trend for this new cycle.

This November 11/12 (depending where you are on the planet) the Sun and Moon are aligned to Mercury, also in Scorpio, and forming an interesting configuration which involves Jupiter in Virgo and Pluto in Capricorn (sextile Sun/Moon and in trine to each other) and Chiron in Pisces (trine Sun/Moon and opposing Jupiter).  This configuration offers real opportunities for some in depth exploring and emotional healing for everyone this opening lunar month, extending to a whole year if you were born a Scorpio, and especially if your birthday falls within a day or two from this phase.

This could mark an ideal time to work on what doesn’t work in our life, trying difficult emotional adjustments that would bring, if successful, a sense of renewal.

The Sabian Symbol for the degree of this New Moon in Scorpio reads: ‘A woman drawing two dark curtains aside’. My interpretation for this degree, as you can find it in my Sabian Readings Page, reads:

The subject here is a woman, archetype of our intuitive faculties, imagination and empathy. The curtains are dark signifying the obstructive ignorance that blinds us to what is really there.

The drawing of the curtains will allow conscious light to stream through from hidden places, offering an opportunity to intuitively grasp the essence of any situation, or revealing truths kept in the dark until now.’

Happening only nine days away from Mercury’s Superior Conjunction to the Sun, that will turn our Little Brother into a Morning Star from November 21, the alignment of Sun and Moon to Mercury in Scorpio shows the need to give serious thoughts to the power of words, to the psychological and spiritual impact they have on us and others. This is not time to seek superficial answers to our questions or to apply band-aid remedies to our emotional wounds. The Sun/Moon/Mercury’s trine to Chiron and sextile Jupiter/Pluto suggest that our exploring could unearth hidden pains, buried perhaps in the past of our childhood and youth, and with it the wisdom to deal with them in an empowering way. There could be healing after accepting what is unavoidable or cannot be changed.

If your birthday falls between the 11 and 13 of November, and also if your Moon, Ascendant or a personal planet (Mercury to Saturn) was placed between the 18th and 20th degree of Scorpio (or Taurus-Leo-Aquarius) real opportunities will present themselves this year to reform negative habits, physical and/or psychological, and begin not just any new cycle but one that will transform you in the profoundest way.
