While the controversy over the re-allocation of water in the Murray-Darling basin is raging, another water drama is unfolding in the New South Wales’ North-East.

On October 19 the local Tweed Council approved the construction of a dam at Byrrill Creek, one of the few rain forest areas left on the Tweed, populated by many flora and fauna endangered species, significant spiritual place to many local aboriginal communities and the home of many deeply concerned residents.

Byrrill Creek residents and many people from the whole Tweed Caldera and adjacent region have now a fight in their hands to stop this environmentally disastrous choice.
